daylight saving

WWI daylight savings

DST was begun by Germany and her WWI allies in 1916 . Other countries followed the practice the next year . The USA started DST in 1918 , mainly to save resources used to produce the electricity for incandescent lights .

It’s that time again . Set your clock ahead an hour .

After WWI the use of DST was largely abandoned . It was revived in many places during the 1970s as a result of the 1970s energy crisis .DST
