Ada and I recently spent a week at a lake near the Polish village of Goscim . A person needs to get away into the woods once in awhile , or somewhere away , to rest up for the next round , splash a little water on the face and sit back .
We were lucky enough to enjoy some serenity , to count the ducks , to walk in the woods , and to watch the big white swans gliding along on the water , occasionally dipping their long necks into the lake .
We rented an A-frame cabin and took the grandkids . Friends of ours were with us , too , in their own rented A-frames . The five-kid group of ours had a blast splashing around and doing what young kids do .
When I was a kid my dad used to drive our family of eight from southern California to Minnesota every summer to spend a couple of weeks in a cabin on one of the lakes where Dad had spent his childhood summers . The Goscim lake reminded me of those days .
Had a wonderful time . Wish you were there .
